Sevilla Airport Terminal Guide (SVQ)

Overview

Sevilla Airport (SVQ) operates with a single passenger terminal, making it one of the most efficient and easy-to-navigate airports in Spain. Its compact design allows for short walking distances, quick connections and smooth passenger flow. Despite its size, it offers all essential services and a comfortable experience for both domestic and international flights.

History and origins

Sevilla Airport dates back to the early 20th century and has played an important role in Spanish aviation. The current terminal was designed by architect Rafael Moneo and inaugurated in 1991 for Expo ’92 held in Sevilla. Its architecture reflects traditional Andalusian elements, with arches and abundant natural light as key features. Over the years, the airport has been expanded to accommodate increasing passenger traffic.

The terminal design is inspired by Andalusian architecture: notice the geometric details and natural lighting.

Terminal layout and levels

The airport has a single terminal distributed across two main levels:

  • Ground floor (Arrivals): baggage claim, arrivals hall, car rental, taxis and bus connections.
  • Upper floor (Departures): check-in counters, security control, boarding gates, shops and restaurants.

The boarding gates are located along a single concourse, making navigation quick and intuitive.

Walking distances are very short: most gates can be reached within 5–10 minutes after security.

Facilities

  • Free Wi-Fi throughout the airport
  • ATMs and currency exchange
  • Shops and Duty Free
  • Cafés, restaurants and vending machines
  • Car rental services

Family and PRM services

  • Baby care rooms
  • Priority assistance
  • Wheelchair service and accessible facilities
  • Reserved parking spaces for PRM passengers

Request PRM assistance at least 48 hours before your flight to ensure the best service.

Security and baggage control

Security checks at Sevilla Airport are usually fast and efficient. Standard European regulations apply regarding liquids and hand luggage. Thanks to its size, waiting times are shorter than at major airports.

Check-in and boarding

Check-in counters are located on the departures level. Many airlines also offer online check-in and self-service kiosks. Boarding is generally smooth thanks to the airport’s size and organization.

For domestic flights, arriving 90 minutes in advance is usually enough, although more time is recommended during peak season.

Lost property

The lost property office is located in the arrivals area. If you lost an item on board, contact your airline before reaching out to the airport.
